Josh Inglis scored a century in record time as Australia crushed Scotland by 70 runs in Edinburgh on Friday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in a three-match Twenty20 series.
Travis Head, fresh from his century in Wednesday’s opening match, attempted a duck to the delight of the Scotland fans at the Grange.
But his run-out brought Inglis back to the crease, the number three hitting seven fours and as many sixes in an innings of 103 that took just 49 balls.
Opening batsman Head was bowled first ball by Brad Currie, the paceman leading Scotland’s attack with 3-37.
There was no stopping Inglis as the 29-year-old managed to score a century before being caught in the covers by Chris Sole.
Scotland’s response to Australia’s 196-4 never came.
Brandon McMullen played a solitary hand of 59 as Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis took 4-23, with Scotland dismissed for 126.
Scotland opener George Munsey scored 19 runs in just nine balls but the home side continued to lose wickets as Australia cruised to victory.
